Metaphor in Layers, a group exhibition from Adrian College Department of Art & Design students, is currently on display in the college’s Nicolay Heritage Room through Friday, March 8. A reception is scheduled from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
The exhibition showcases screen print work from art and design program students Emily Archer, Patrick Dunn, Sam Glaza, Kaye Keckler, Tessa Rothemeyer and Kellen Taylor. The course was led by adjunct instructor Christina Humble in the fall 2018 semester.
Metaphor in Layers refers to the creative process that enables self-expression, interpretation of everyday issues and visual problem solving. Printmaking is an art form that utilizes layering and multiplicity, allowing images and icons to be combined.
Works on display range in content from humanitarian and social issues to explorations on the impact of technology in modern society. Collectively, the Metaphor in Layers exhibit examines self-discovery and personal reflection.
The Nicolay Heritage Room is located in the Shipman Library on Adrian College’s campus and is open Sunday from noon to midnight, Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to midnight, Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
