Intelligent.com, a resource for online/on-campus program rankings and higher education planning, has included Adrian College in its list of top programs assessed for 2022. The research identifies programs in the nation based on flexibility, faculty, course strength, cost, and reputation.

Adrian College received “Best 3+2 Master’s Program” in the on-campus and online format by Intelligent.com. Students in the undergraduate 3+2 program at Adrian College are automatically eligible for entry into the Master’s program, after meeting entry requirements. 3+2 programs allow students to complete both the undergraduate and graduate degrees in five years.

“I am very proud of this accolade. We are instilling in our students the desire to continue their education and pursue master’s degrees within their professions,” said Christine Knaggs PhD., Adrian College Dean of Graduate Studies. “We do so much outreach and work with our undergraduate students to make them aware of our graduate programs and have them see them as valuable and viable options.”

Experts at Intelligent.com assessed programs that help students enhance and develop advanced skills for a variety of in-demand positions, and noted Adrian College offers flexible distance learning that appeals to busy adults with hybrid models that include on-campus and online formats.

In addition, Adrian College was also designated “Best for International Students,” specifically within its Department of Exercise Science and Athletic Training.

“Cultural competence is receiving more emphasis in the profession of athletic training recently. This award is a testament to how important we see this skill as a profession and as a department,” said Tyler Harris PhD., professor at Adrian College in Exercise Science and Athletic Training.

The Master’s program in Exercise Science and Athletic Training is only open to Adrian College undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or Pre-Athletic Training as part of the combined Bachelor’s/Master’s program.

In the five year accelerated program, athletic training students will earn a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a Master of Science in Athletic Training. While in the program, students will also complete a comprehensive master’s thesis and are given the opportunity to become Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS).

“The graduate athletic training program at Adrian College offers advancement training that prepares students to be credentialed in both the United States and Canada,” said Tina Claiborne PhD., professor and Director of Graduate Athletic Training, and the Director of the Adrian College Institute for Sports Medicine. “ Several of Adrian’s athletic training graduates have taken the opportunity to become certified in both countries which has truly opened up their employment opportunities.”

Intelligent.com implemented a methodology that ranks each program on a scale from 1 to 100 across five categories. The scoring system compares each university according to program strength, student readiness, return on investment, cost, and student engagement. Researchers compared 704 programs from 2,900 universities and colleges across the United States.

Studies show that obtaining a degree increases income substantially; degree holders earn 84% more than those with only high school diplomas or those without a completed GED. The percentage difference in earnings continues to grow with higher learning degrees such as masters, doctoral or professional degrees, with the unemployment rate decreasing to as much as 1.1% for those with a doctorate degree.
